Amanda is an adopted member of her family and is the youngest of four children, having a brother and 2 sisters. The adoption was kept secret from the public so she grew up in Dulwich, South London. Mealing has always longed to find and know her biological parents but she feels that her new family will not take it in a positive approach.

When she was just 15 years old, she lost her older brother and was deeply affected by it. She has a premonition that life can be very short and there is no point in sitting around.

Amanda’s culinary career

Amanda made her professional acting debut in a Julie Andrews special on BBC Television when she was just six years old.

The meal appeared a lot on television. The Darling Buds of May, Four Wedding and a Funeral, In depth, Capital city, The Bill, Midsomer Murders, and Delise in the 1990 miniseries The Gravy Train are just a few of them. She appeared on the television mini-series Jake’s Progress.

Amanda appears as a thoracic consultant, named Connie Beauchamp in Holby City; medical drama from June 1, 2004 to December 28, 2010, and announced her decision to quit in October 2010.

In March 2014, Mealing reprized her role as Connie Beauchamp as the Casualty sisters of Holby City. However, after 7 years, she informed me that she would temporarily stop working but would definitely return to the screen in the future.

Along with making Casualty, she also directed three episodes of it. Along with that, she also directed a short film called Another Man’s Shoes. In 2019, she directed an episode of The Dumping Ground, and recently in 2021, she joined the ITV drama series Coronation Street as a director.

Mealing is happily married to screenwriter Richard Sainsbury. The couple married in 1988 and have two sons together, Otis and Milo. The happy little family originally lived on a farm in Lincolnshire but moved to South Wales when the production moved from Cardiff to Bristol.

After giving birth to her first son, her desire to learn about her roots and heritage became difficult to ignore. So her research took her to New York, where she found her biological mother, a model for Biba in her sixties. She later learned her father was a half-Ghanaian poet and activist. Although her father had passed away several years earlier, she maintained a good relationship with her mother and younger sister.

She was later diagnosed with breast cancer and was working for a similar charity.
