Aimed at the education market, like Windows 10 S, the new convertible tablet is resistant to various types of wear and tear and has a quad-core Intel Atom CPU.

Internally the Atlas comes with a quad-core Intel Atom CPU clocked at 1.92Ghz when overclocked, paired with 4GB of LPDDR3L memory. The basic storage is 128 GB eMMC flash, with up to 64 GB of additional storage via MicroSD card. We’re told this offers a “huge boost”, in speed and performance compared to the Atlas 12.

The battery would allegedly last about eight hours, while the IPS screen is 11.6 inches diagonal, with a resolution of 1366 x 768.

Bak claims that the new Atlas is resistant to dust, water and falls and has a robust design. It also has a built-in handle for easy portability and an attached stylus for more refined inputs via the touch interface. The camera can also be rotated 180 degrees, making it versatile for capturing images from the front and back.

It also comes with a fingerprint reader and has two USB ports: one 2.0 Type-A and one 3.0 Type-C.

In keeping with its educational focus, Atlas will also be available with a Steam Starter Kit. That doesn’t give it a ton of games to play, but it will include extras like a detachable microscope powered by LabCamera software. It also comes with ClapMotion, a program that makes it easy for students to create stop-motion movies by clapping their hands.

As standard, each Atlas will also come with Office 365, which includes full copies of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Microsoft Teams.

“We believe the new Atlas is competitive with any other education laptop currently on the market,” said Bak USA Vice President of Products, Christian Bak. While that statement doesn’t say it outright, it should mean that Atlas will match whatever other manufacturers have to offer with Microsoft’s latest iteration of Windows 10.
