Bristol Airport accident: Horror A38 crash leaves one seriously injured and forces ALL flights to be delayed

A HORRIFIC crash on the A38 left one person seriously injured – causing all flights from Bristol Airport to be delayed this morning.

After the collision, an ambulance rushed to the scene, and one person was taken to the hospital by helicopter.

The A38 is closed in both directions

The road was closed after the crash, leading to chaos on the roads and in the departure lounge at the airport.

Traffic is now heavy in the area and police, EMS and firefighters are at the scene.

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust said: “We sent three dual-crew land ambulances, an operator, a doctor and an air ambulance.

“We took one patient by air ambulance to Southmead Hospital.”

Bristol Airport said: “Flights will not depart from Bristol Airport until 08:00 this morning.

“This is due to the closure of the A38 following a traffic collision.

“Passengers flying this morning are advised to allow extra time to travel to the airport and check flight details with their airline.”

One angry motorist said: “This is a welcome update as we are stuck in traffic on country roads with one car 5 minutes from the airport.”

The footage showed a crowded departure lounge at the airport, with BristolLive reporting that between 6am and 7am is usually when the airport is at its busiest.

The passenger said: “I was standing in the departures lounge at Bristol airport – no announcements or information were given to the thousands of people waiting here.

“Not everyone has access to X to see their flights massively delayed.”

Avon Fire and Rescue said it made the scene safe by removing sharp objects and cleaning up spilled fuel.

The nearby A370 is also closed due to roadworks.
