It has now been revealed that Leo has been named employee of the year at the store as he continuously entertains customers with his presence while also hunting mice and birds that find their way into the store.

Who is Leo the cat?

Leo became famous after a man named Jeff (@cat_dad_2020) first posted about him on TikTok. No stranger to sharing posts about his cats as well as other cats, Jeff started sharing some videos about Leo, the cat known as the Home Depot Cat.

Jeff told his 378,000 followers that Leo was rescued from an animal shelter and had been a barn cat before coming to the shelter.

Leo can often be found wandering the store and lingering in some of his favorite spots across the runway. These locations include top shelves, on worker drawers between aisles, and even among succulents in planting areas. He also likes to get attention from shoppers.

Leo even establishes a routine. Each night, he was placed in the store’s central garden by the person on duty at the time. He was locked in there with everything he needed, including fresh water and food. Some workers are even responsible for cleaning his trash every day.

Although everyone in the store was happy to take care of him, his “main caregiver” was a worker named Donna. According to one of Jeff’s TikToks, Donna takes Leo to vet appointments and monitors his health. Donna also picks food for Leo and gets him water.

Unfortunately, he may have proven to be too popular. During a TikTok, Jeff revealed that Leo had almost taken a nap several times. Fortunately, almost every turn they were blocked.

He now has an AirTag on his collar to prevent him from being kidnapped or escaping. Although, according to Jeff, Leo had too much to focus on sleeping and keeping an eye on the store to have any interest in leaving.
