Ice Cube was born on June 15, 1969 in Crenshaw, California, United States. He is the son of Doris, who worked as a hospital clerk and custodian, and Hosea Jackson, a mechanic and custodian of the UCLA estate. He has an older brother named Clyde. They are also known to have a half-sister, Beverly Brown, who was murdered when Ice was 12 years old. Ice Cube grew up on Van Wick Street in the Westmont neighborhood of South Los Angeles. He completed his studies at George Washington Preparatory High School in Los Angeles. When he was in 9th grade, he started writing rap after being challenged by a friend nicknamed “Kiddo”. He later also attended William Howard Taft High School in Woodland Hills, California. After writing and recording several songs with NWA, he moved to Arizona to enroll at the Phoenix Institute of Technology in 1987. He received his diploma in architectural drafting in 1988. Ice’s career

In 1986, Ice Cube initiated and founded CIA, his first rap group. Then in 1987, with Eazy-E and Dr. Dre, he formed the rap gangsta group NWA. As the main rapper, he wrote some of Dre’s songs and most of Eazy’s lyrics in Straight Outta Compton. The NWA has generated quite a bit of controversy as their lyrics are often violent and threaten to attack violent police officers as well as innocent civilians. In 1989, Ice Cube left NWA due to a dispute over Eazy-E and Jerry Heller’s management of the group. He collaborated with several artists in New York and started his solo rap career. His debut in the acting field was in Boys in the neighborhood, directed by John Singleton, where he played Doughboy. The film is named after a rap song composed by Ice Cube. 1995 comedy, Friday, co-written and starring Ice. In 1998, he debuted as a director with the movie Player Club. Over the years, he has appeared in over 40 films including Three Kings, the Barbershop series, 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street and Ride Together. He is also the executive producer of most of these films.
