Japanese man turned dog Toco says he wants others to follow in his footsteps

Toco, a Japanese YouTuber, shared about people’s interest in his incredible hobby of wearing Border Collie costumes.

The dog Toco — known for his surreal border collie outfit worth $15,791 — gave his first interview while dressed up as a dog.

The Japanese man went viral in 2022 after revealing his dog’s ego and ridiculously realistic outfit, which went viral online. He went viral again in July 2023 when he made his first public appearance in costume.

In his first dress-up conversation with EFE, a Spanish international news agency, Toco stated that fans wanted to follow in his footsteps when they asked for his advice.

He shared: “Since I was a child, I have wanted a change. “When I put on the suit, I feel happy because my dream has come true.”

He went on to share that he received a lot of positive messages, including from some people wanting to follow in his footsteps.

“I get all kinds of messages, some of them positive, some telling me what they want to do. [I’ve done],” he said, according to The Daily Star.

“This has allowed me to see that there are others like me.”

By the way, this is not just a fancy outfit, as Toco has always dreamed of turning into a dog.

“I’ve been thinking about that since I can remember,” he told MailOnline in 2022.

However, the YouTuber has said that he doesn’t “want his hobby known, especially the people I work with”.

“They thought it was weird that I wanted to be a dog. It’s also for that reason that I can’t reveal my true face.”

Who is Toco?

Toco has grown in popularity since he posted a video on July 21 of him walking in public in a $15,791 custom dog costume.

The costume – meticulously crafted by Zeppet Workshop, a company known for its film and television costumes – took more than 40 days to build. Over the last year, Toco featured the outfit in videos posted to its YouTube channel, leaving many viewers wondering for their own eyes. In all of these videos, Toco can be seen posing in his dog costume and behaving like a dog.

In the video, Toco is seen being taken out for a walk on a leash, interacting with other dogs and humans at the park.

The reactions of passersby and other dogs ranged from curiosity to amazement, many unable to seem to realize that Toco wasn’t actually a dog.

As his YouTube channel grows in popularity, viewers can look forward to seeing more of Toco’s adventures as a Collie in the future. As Toco himself said: “I will continue this in the next video! Please subscribe to this channel!”
