What does direct location mean on Snapchat?

Snapchat’s Live Location sharing feature allows you to share your exact location with close friends and family in real time. It acts as a digital beacon, allowing specific contacts to track your movements until you reach your destination or until you feel it is safe to stop sharing.

By choosing to share your live location, you’re essentially allowing your recipients to see your location on their Snap Map, giving them live tracking. It’s like someone almost accompanying you on the journey.

Snapchat lets you choose to share your location for about 15 minutes, an hour, or eight hours. This feature is disabled by default and there is no option to share your live location with all your friends.

To enable live location sharing, you’ll have to go to your friend’s profile and choose how long you want to share your location with them. You can then monitor the location sharing status in the chat window with that friend.
